We got in last minute after hours. We had been driving 8hrs and stopped at a motel that was horrible but luckily we found this campground. The camp host came and got us checked in despite it being after check in time. We were so grateful to be able to relax comfortably after a crazy travel day. The glam pod was perfect! Clean and simple but still having camping “luxury” of a mattress, private bathroom, mini fridge and air conditioning! Like having our own tiny camper. In the morning we were able to have a coffee pod in bed then pull out our supplies to cook a quick breakfast. Shower was amazing and such a treat at a campsite. The site itself was very nice. The pods are all close next to each other but up above the main campground and felt vey private. The pods by the office had a beautiful view and were practically on the river, but I don’t think those had bathrooms in them. We didn’t get to use the facilities but everything looked well maintained. About a 5 hr drive from our home but I would come back with my kids for another stay.
Jun 19, 2026 · Google ReviewWe spent the 4th of July holiday at the Herkimer KOA. We reserved a creekside site with full hook up. Check in service was very good and fast. We really liked our site. The weather was very hot and many families enjoyed tubing down the creek. Fun to watch! They had a full roster of activities. We went to lunch across the street at the diamond mine. Food was really good. They had a cute parade of bikes on the 4th and Duck race. They also were good about stopping people from using fireworks. Now for some friendly suggestions. They had a pool party with free popsicles and pool balls and floats. We just happen to use the pool during the party. They played popular music hits. The pool party only last 1 hour. When the hour was up, they cut the music and asked campers to return the pool balls/floats “so they could use them again next year”. So sad. Kids were having fun in the pool with the dollar store floats. Just thought that was so cheap and unnecessary. The ice cream trailer, “Scoops” has very limited hours. On the weekends it should be open all afternoon/early evening. And finally the women’s room was filthy. Backed up toilets. Please correct! Really nice campground but in need of some improvements that are key to the customers experience.
Jul 7, 2026 · Google ReviewMe and my friend took her 9 yr old grandson here this past weekend. We stayed in a cozy cabin K16. Fresh linens provided, very clean, rustic, cute. This particular one did not have a bathroom but it was very close. Pretty, well maintained site with playground. Staff is FABULOUS and Phil gave our car a jump start as we were trying to leave with a dead battery. Outside of bathroom big sinks with Dawn soap/hot water to wash dishes. All the cabins and sites are beautiful and we had the mohawk to wade in a stone's throw! The shops are beautiful and he had fun in the mines. Not 1 piece of garbage, anywhere. I highly recommend this beautiful place, especially with a family. U can be in the thick of things or more secluded! JUST GO and see this 'GEM' of Upstate, NY!
Jul 20, 2026 · Google ReviewA Hidden Gem in Upstate New York If you are looking for a peaceful escape that balances natural beauty with excellent service, the Herkimer Diamond KOA is an absolute must-visit. Our stay was nothing short of wonderful, and it’s easily one of the most relaxing getaways we've had. Exceptional Service From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. It’s clear they take great pride in the resort; they went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed and made us feel genuinely welcome throughout our entire stay. The Accommodations The cabin was fantastic—clean, cozy, and well-maintained. It provided the perfect "home away from home" feel. What really stood out, however, was how quiet and serene the atmosphere is. If you enjoy waking up to silence and stunning scenery, you’ll love the really pretty views around the grounds. It is the ideal environment to unplug and recharge. Perfect Location One of the best parts about this KOA is the location. While you feel like you’re tucked away in a private nature retreat, you’re never truly isolated. A town with all the amenities—including grocery stores, pharmacy, and local dining—is just a short, convenient 15-minute drive away. Whether you're here to prospect for diamonds or just to enjoy the fresh air, this resort offers a perfect blend of comfort and tranquility. We can't wait to come back!
May 12, 2026 · Google ReviewNice and clean with friendly staff. Has gotten pricey and lost a few amenities as well as some free family fun that was promoted in the past. Fun fact about pricing its typically cheaper to stay at the koa in sugar loaf key in the fl keys than in herkimer ny and the restaurant and bar down there is awesome along with amazing water front views and amenities. Please dont price out regular familes.
